A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

Studies on innovation and standardization are not new but have gained attention in recent years with the publication of ISO 56002:2019. In this sense, this article presents a systematic review of the literature with the aim of characterizing the bibliographic production related to innovation and standardization, generating a description of the levels, areas, and topics of research in organizations. To carry out this review, 706 articles were extracted from the Scopus database, and 166 articles were highlighted, which express the current context in three interdependent groupings: management standards, internal management, products, and services. In summary, this article has two implications. The first is associated with organizing and understanding the various levels, areas, and themes that make up the standardization and innovation debate. The second concerns the gaps identified in the studies analyzed that take a systematic approach to innovation management. Finally, implications for public policymakers, managers, and academics are presented.
