Abstract

The organizational resilience of small businesses faced with increasing natural disasters remains underexplored in the literature. This article analyzes how entrepreneurs of small businesses in Santa Tereza, RS, reframed entrepreneurship following the extreme hydrological events of 2023 and 2024 and what effects natural disasters had on their approach to entrepreneurship. The exploratory-descriptive study employed a multiple-case study method involving narrative interviews, observation, and documentary research. Data were processed through narrative analysis and content analysis. The results reveal that reframing is a dialectical process initiated at the individual level, mediated by community support, and consolidated by organizational resilience. The main theoretical contribution lies in positioning organizational resilience as a construct of entrepreneurial action linked to the recombination of resources (bricolage) in environments of extreme adversity.
