Abstract

This study starts from the concept of sustainable development to reflect on its effectiveness in cost management in family agribusiness, focusing on a company located in the central region of the State of Rondônia. The objective was the analysis of the financial business through the profit calculation and contribution margin. The methodology involved field research, using data triangulation through semi-structured questionnaires, document analysis, participatory workshops, and rural management instruments. The results showed that agribusiness incurred losses in the production of pasteurized milk, while yogurt had a considerable profit margin. Fixed costs were identified as the main challenge, representing a significant portion of investments. It is concluded that agroindustry contributes to sustainable local development and is necessary for its greater effectiveness: professional management, adequate cost control, and the availability of public policies for the promotion of primary items and for the development and implementation of science and technology in support of expanding the production of manufactured items, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of family and productive activities in the State of Rondônia.
