Abstract

Traumatic aortic dissection (TAD) is a challenging injury and represents a prime cause of high morbidity and mortality in trauma. Surgical treatment of TAD can be performed either by conventional open repair or by endovascular techniques, and should be indicated immediately after diagnosis due to the high risk of progression to death. We report this lesion in a 26-year-old patient who sustained TAD (Stanford type B, DeBakey type III) following a motor vehicle collision, and who underwent definitive treatment by endovascular repair. The choice of endovascular intervention proved to be a successful treatment, with leson resolution and a satisfactory clinical outcome.
