This study investigated the spread of fake health news on social media, with an emphasis on its informative and social impact. Posts on TikTok, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods, aiming to classify the content as true or false. Three hundred videos using the hashtag #health were selected based on strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results revealed that on TikTok, 54% of posts contained false information, particularly on topics such as healthy eating, dietary supplements, and the use of medicinal plants. On X, 75% of the content was classified as true, and on Instagram, 64%. Despite the significant presence of reliable content, the significant proportion of misinformation highlights the need for effective strategies to combat it. The study highlights the importance of digital literacy and critical thinking as essential tools for reducing the negative impacts of fake health news, promoting access to reliable, quality information.
